The piece explores the complexities of domesticity and southern Americana through the lens of a gay man. The piece is centered around the act of scrubbing laundry, symbolizing the endless cycle of mundane tasks that are often associated with domestic life. This performance not only highlights the monotony of these tasks but also the care and attention put into them as a form of love and devotion to one's partner. The use of flour as a metaphor highlights the fragility and ephemeral nature of love and relationships, as it can be easily soiled or destroyed. Iā€™m interested in exploring the struggles and triumphs of navigating love in a world that often fails to recognize and support marginalized relationships. Through this work, I aim to challenge societal norms and invite viewers to consider the beauty and resilience of love in all its forms, as well as the importance of caring for others through acts of domestic work and support.
